This position requires a rotating schedule of 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, with night and day shifts from 19:00 to 07:30 and 07:00 to 19:30.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care for adult and geriatric patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The unit specializes in managing complex cardiovascular conditions and requires strong clinical skills, especially with advanced therapies such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Impella device management. The Registered Nurse will perform bedside procedures, monitor critically ill patients, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to cardiovascular patients in accordance with established protocols and standards.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patient conditions to ensure timely intervention.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including blood product administration and IV management.
• Perform or assist with various procedures such as central line insertions, bronchoscopy, and chest tube placements.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop and evaluate patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families about their health conditions and treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document care in the Epic charting system.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a CVICU setting.
• Strong experience with IABP and Impella devices.
• Previous charge experience is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Active RN license in Maryland or compact state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certifications are preferred.
