Description

American Traveler is hiring a CVICU RN for a night/day rotating 13-week assignment requiring 2+ years of CVICU experience and MD/Compact RN licensure.

Details

• CVICU setting with 15 rooms/beds and average daily census of 10
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:1, up to 3 for stable, lower acuity patients
• Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, arrhythmias, MI, PH, advanced therapy workups (LVAD, heart transplants), and mechanical support device management
• Performs bedside central/A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA cath insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
• Utilizes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
• Uses Epic EMR
• Rotating Night/Day shifts, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30 or 07:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and occasionally to ICU/lower acuity units as needed
• No scheduled on-call shifts required

Requirements

• Active RN license, Maryland or Compact, required
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only)
• CPI certification required
• CCRN and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Experience with IABP and Impella required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and TPN/lipids
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care
• Experience with CRRT, AKI/renal failure management, and hemodialysis care
• Strong skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips

Additional Information

• Provides critical care nursing for complex cardiovascular patients including post-cardiac surgery, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and mechanical circulatory support cases
• Candidates not accepted if previously employed as staff within the health system within the past 12 months
• Return travelers must have a 6-month break from the system before returning
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers with strong CVICU skills and experience, including IABP and Impella, will be considered
• Must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible unless local acceptance is specified
• Maximum RTO request of 7 days; if more than 4 consecutive days are requested, an additional week must be added to the contract
