Job Summary: Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) Nurse position located in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized cardiac surgical care within a Level I trauma center's acute care hospital. The position offers a dynamic environment with a focus on complex cardiovascular procedures, requiring experienced candidates to support multiple shifts and procedures.
Job Details:
Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting 08/31/2026
Required Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience as an Operating Room OR (Operating Room) Nurse, with at least some trauma or Medical Office Record (MOR) experience; active Illinois nursing license or in application process, and BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Level II trauma settings, high-volume cardiac surgery cases, and familiarity with complex cardiovascular procedures such as Aortic Aneurysm repair, CABG, ECMO, TAVR, and vascular surgeries.
Additional Information: Candidates must be proficient in cardiothoracic surgical procedures including aortic aneurysm repair, atrial septal defect repair, coronary artery bypass grafting, and vascular surgeries like carotid endarterectomy and endovascular aneurysm repair. They should have experience with procedures such as bronchoscopy, EGD, Peg tube placement/exchange, and Whipple surgery. The role requires knowledge of laser safety, specimen handling, and universal protocol procedures. Interdisciplinary support includes thoracic, vascular, and endoscopic surgeries, with an emphasis on acute cardiac care in a high-capacity hospital.
