Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart Registered Nurse (RN) in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves providing specialized cardiac surgical care in a Level I trauma center with a focus on complex cardiovascular procedures such as Aortic Aneurysm repair, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, and TAVR. The role requires a skilled trauma or cardiovascular RN with a minimum of three years of experience in a general or cardiovascular operating room setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting 08/31/2026.
- Required Qualifications: 3 years of experience as an RN, active Illinois license or in application process, BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Level I trauma and teaching hospitals, Certified in advanced cardiovascular or vascular specialties, familiarity with Cerner charting system.
- Special Requirements: Experience in CVOR, General Operating Room, and cardiovascular surgical procedures including thoracic and vascular surgeries. Proficiency in endoscopic procedures such as bronchoscopy, EGD, and Whipple surgeries is required.
- Responsibilities: Assist with complex cardiovascular surgeries including Aortic Aneurysm repair, Mitral valve replacement, and TAVR procedures. Support thoracic and vascular surgical cases, and ensure adherence to safety and universal protocols.
- Additional Information: The facility is an acute care hospital with 562 beds, serving adult and geriatric patients. The surgical team supports interdisciplinary coordination and operates within a Level I trauma setting. Orientation includes virtual onboarding, modules, and compliance documentation completed within the first week, with mandatory work on two major holidays.
