Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department serving all age ranges, including neonatal through adult populations
• Manage patients presenting with diagnoses including chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, respiratory illness, and respiratory arrest
• Operate specialized equipment including Belmont rapid infuser in trauma, Giraffe warmer for neonates, and Lucas device for cardiac arrests
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower-acuity patient groups, within a 46-bed department averaging a daily census of 140
• Document patient care accurately using the EPIC electronic charting system
• Float within the Emergency Department specialty as needed; travelers are first to float

Required Qualifications

• Active Maryland RN license or active Compact RN license at time of submission
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room RN experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Required certifications (AHA only where applicable): BLS, ACLS, PALS; also required: NIH Stroke Scale, CPI, TNCC
• CPI certification must be completed through the Calm Every Storm online platform if obtained online
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (permanent address); locals are not accepted unless explicitly stated otherwise

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for high-acuity patients including trauma, cardiac arrest, and stroke
• Familiarity with rapid infusion devices and warming equipment used in emergency and trauma settings
• Experience working in a high-census, fast-paced emergency department environment
