Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule from 1:00PM-1:00AM
  • 36 hours per week over 3 shifts of 12 hours each
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required on a rotation basis
  • 2 call shifts required per 6-week schedule period, with call shifts lasting 13 hours and an expectation to be onsite within one hour
  • 2-week nights rotation required of all travelers with no block scheduling
  • Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license in good standing required (temporary license accepted)
  • Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience required
  • ASN required, BSN preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required
  • TNCC certification highly preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Emergency Department nursing experience required

Additional Information

  • Serve as a professional caregiver responsible for a group of ED patients, applying the nursing process and current nursing trends
  • Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with providers, patients, and families
  • Implement and modify nursing interventions and care plans based on ongoing patient assessment
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of nursing care within the Epic system
  • Promote patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting safety hazards
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, patients, and families to support a healing environment
  • Provide feedback to peers to support professional development within the unit
  • This is a high-risk department assignment within the Emergency Department
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
  • RTO may not exceed 7 total days within the 13-week contract
