Description

American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Department RN with CA licensure and 2+ years of ED experience for a stroke and STEMI receiving center.

Details

• 34-bed general acute care Emergency Department serving patients of all ages and diagnoses
• Level III ED functioning as a STEMI and stroke receiving center with no trauma designation
• Cares for both ED and medical-surgical patients within the ED
• 4:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 0600-1830
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS
• PALS or ENPC in lieu of PALS
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required (hard requirement)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care
• Experience administering emergency medications and managing procedural sedation
• Experience caring for ventilated and BiPAP/CPAP patients
• Experience managing psychiatric holds and behavioral health emergencies
• Experience with pediatric and adult emergency presentations

Additional Information

• Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in the ED
• Provides direct patient care, patient/family education, and supports transitions of care
• Delivers holistic, individualized care across a wide range of emergency presentations including trauma, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric cases
• Manages conditions such as CVA, sickle cell crisis, seizures, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Applies splints and manages orthopedic trauma cases as needed
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Returning staff must have a one-year separation before being eligible to return as a travelers
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
