Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of ED experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Work setting is a hospital-based Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and a Level II Stroke Center
- 54-bed ED treating more than 60,000 patients per year, serving all age groups
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all other patients
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as assigned
- Floating to other units and hospitals is required
- EMR system is Meditech (experience not required)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AL state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on nursing license(s) allowed
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Emergency Department nursing
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
- Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and TNCC
- SECURE on-site certification required
- NURSYS verification required
- Current driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

- ED team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing comprehensive emergency medical services 24/7
- All ED RNs are required to complete both an online pre-test and an on-site skills/competency test
- Virtual orientation includes competency-based modules — no HealthStream modules are required prior to start
- Timekeeping is managed through Centricity
- Dress code: solid navy scrubs
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
