Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and trauma background.

Details

  • Work in a 54-bed Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
  • ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year across all age groups
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all other patients
  • Mid-shift schedule: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as assigned
  • Floating to other units and hospitals within the health system is required
  • EMR: Meditech (experience not required)

Requirements

  • Active AL state RN license or Compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
  • No hits (past or current) on RN license allowed
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year recent experience in Emergency Department nursing
  • Experience in a large hospital setting required
  • Trauma experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or Red Cross), NIH Stroke Scale, TNCC
  • SECURE on-site certification required
  • Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required at minimum
  • Valid driver's license required
  • NURSYS license verification required

  • ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing comprehensive emergency care 24/7
  • All ED RNs are required to complete both an online pre-test and an on-site test as part of the hiring process
  • Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules — no HealthStream modules required prior to start
  • Solid navy scrubs required
