Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN with at least 1 year of emergency department experience for a 12-week trauma unit assignment requiring a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Works in the Emergency Department-Trauma unit of a hospital setting
• Cares for patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, pediatric, and trauma-related emergencies
• 12-week assignment with a scheduled shift from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM
• Documents patient care in the electronic health record

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (TN or compact) required
• Current BLS certification required (AHA)
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA)
• PALS certification may be required
• TNCC certification may be preferred or required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification may be required
• Ascension MOAB certification may be required
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
• Prior emergency department, critical care, or acute-care nursing experience preferred
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Must provide a US Social Security Number and US home address

Additional Information

• Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and prioritize care based on severity and urgency
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and patient condition changes
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other ordered treatments
• Initiate and maintain IV access and obtain blood specimens for lab testing
• Assist with emergency procedures including CPR, trauma resuscitation, intubation, and wound care
• Operate and monitor emergency equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, and ventilators
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, and lab staff
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Follow infection-control and medication-safety protocols
• Participate in emergency preparedness and quality-improvement initiatives
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate under facility radius rule
