Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a night shift position requiring Level I Trauma experience in an urban, teaching hospital setting.

Details

• Work in a Level I Trauma Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Floating required
• Required to work every other weekend
• Epic charting system used, experience preferred

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent ED experience required
• Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI
• Skilled in managing trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Competency in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health emergencies
• Experience with pediatric emergency presentations such as asthma, seizures, and infections
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs
• Must have full 7-year work history with all gaps explained
• Must provide two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a broad range of medical, surgical, trauma, and psychiatric conditions
• Perform splinting and manage orthopedic trauma cases
• Support care for stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury patients
• Participate in non-billable orientation modules (2-3 hours) specific to the profession
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, with no more than 3 days taken consecutively and none during the first or last week of the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Former employees of this health system must have a 7-month separation period before returning as a traveler
