Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ER position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring at least 1 year of strong ED experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center with Level IV NICU
• 60-bed unit including 21 inpatient holding beds, 2 psych rooms, and 14 hall spaces
• Average of 140-150 patients per day
• Patient population ranges from pediatric to geriatric
• Treats trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, adult psych, respiratory issues, and chest pain cases
• High acuity receiving facility
• Patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 for lower acuity patients
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• No floating required
• Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at the nursing station with no dedicated tele tech
• EMR: Epic
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Medication dispensing system: Pyxis

Requirements

• Active WA or Compact RN license
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
• Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency Exam prior to start
• Minimum 1 year of strong ED experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion, and ED medication administration
• Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac drips/medications
• First-time travelers will not be considered

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a wide range of emergency conditions and acuity levels
• Support staff includes ER tech, resource/float nurse, RT, ED educator, security, house supervisor, and pharmacy available 24/7
• Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
• Orientation includes NEO on day one, Epic training if needed, and 3-4 shifts with a preceptor
• Shift may switch between day/mid or night/mid but remains consistent for each 6-week block
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed but will be accommodated when possible
• Up to 5 days of time off may be approved during the contract
• Holiday coverage required for 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Scrubs may be any professional color
• Modest piercings (studs only) permitted; tattoos must not be offensive
• Free parking available in designated areas
