Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a fast-paced emergency department requiring a DC RN license and at least one prior travel assignment.

Details

  • Emergency Department setting, combined adult/pediatric, non-trauma
  • STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Rotating shifts include 3x12 or 4x12 options: 11a-11:30p, 3p-3:30a, and 11p-11:30a
  • Rotating schedule with every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • 13-week assignment

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required (pending license accepted with proof at submission and license in hand prior to start)
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience within the last 7 years required
  • At least 1 previous travel assignment required for consideration
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience required
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the past 3 years
  • Skilled in emergency care for pediatric and adult populations including trauma, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric conditions
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, and administering emergency medications including IV vasopressors
  • Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation preferred
  • Skilled in orthopedic splinting and management of ortho trauma cases

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a broad range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and psychiatric emergencies
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and provide emergency medication administration as needed
  • Must be comfortable practicing infection control and isolation precautions using appropriate PPE
  • No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
  • Local candidates accepted within 60 miles at a reduced rate
  • Candidates with prior MedStar employment must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Manager interviews are not guaranteed; candidates should be comfortable proceeding without one
