Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and a DC RN license.

Details

• Work in a General Emergency Department (Combined Adult/Pediatric) setting
• Non-trauma, STEMI Certified, and Stroke Certified facility
• 13-week assignment
• Rotating 3x12 or 4x12 schedules with day shifts (11:00-23:30) and night shifts (23:00-11:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:4

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required (pending DC license accepted with proof of application; must be in hand prior to start date)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience within the last 7 years required
• At least 1 previous travel assignment required for consideration
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
• Experience with pediatric emergency care, psychiatric emergencies, IV therapy/phlebotomy, respiratory management, neurological emergencies, cardiac monitoring, and orthopedic trauma care

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across adult and pediatric populations including trauma, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and cardiac presentations
• Manage dysrhythmias, obtain 12-lead EKGs, and respond to cardiac emergencies
• Perform splinting and manage orthopedic trauma cases
• Apply isolation precautions and appropriate PPE
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Candidates in this specialty must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate within a 60-mile radius
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
