Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level I Trauma hospital position requiring CA RN license, ICU specialty experience, and weekend/holiday availability.

Details

  • Work in the ICU of a Level I Trauma hospital setting
  • Patient population includes Medical, Neuro, Surgical, and Trauma ICU cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Schedule runs Sunday through Saturday
  • Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week cycle
  • Required to work at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend
  • May be required to float down or across the organization to like units or lower acuity units (excluding the ED) across 5 hospitals in the San Diego area
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (TNCC preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU-specific experience, with experience within the past year in an ICU setting
  • 1.5+ years of continuous specialty experience required
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required within the last 6 months of work history
  • 1 year total travel experience required, with 6+ months of continuous travel experience immediately preceding consideration
  • 1 supervisory-level reference required
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, cardiac drip titration, CVA/stroke management, and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia management

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing services to ICU patients including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and administration of vasoactive and sedative medications
  • Candidates must not reside within 100 miles of the facility to be eligible, except for LVNs/MAs
  • Candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months or more are considered local and are not eligible
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted, with no new RTO requests after consideration
  • Prior employees have a 1 year waiting period before returning to the health system
  • Extensions are capped at 1 year, followed by a 1 year waiting period before returning
  • International travelers must have at least 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
  • Hard start date required for either 8/24 or 9/14
