Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital requiring telemetry proficiency and 2+ years of MICU experience.

Details

• ICU unit (7MB MCICU Med/CORICU) within a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Patient population is 70% medical (sepsis, PNA, ARDS, organ failure, DKA) and 30% cardiology (heart failure, post-arrest, arrhythmias)
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Patient ratios are 1:2 on days and 1:3 on nights
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to other ICU units and boarder areas
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must pass a telemetry/EKG interpretation exam demonstrating proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Minimum 2 years of solid MICU experience required
• Level I and Level II Trauma experience required
• Prior travel nurse experience preferred
• Required skills include ventilator management, telemetry, and conscious sedation
• Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, IV therapy, and blood product administration required
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips required
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
• IV insulin protocol experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Preferred skills include IV starts, ICP monitoring, PA lines/Swan Ganz, Impella, IABP, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and CVVHD/CRRT

Additional Information

• Provide direct ICU nursing care to a mixed medical and cardiology critical care population
• Solid color scrubs permitted, with light blue scrubs also provided on unit
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• RTO should be kept to a minimum and cannot be requested during orientation week
• Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Experienced first-time travelers may be considered with strong clinical background, subject to manager screening
