Job Details:

• Function as a bedside ICU nurse providing care for critically ill adult patients
• Will not serve in the Charge Nurse role - agency RN serves as bedside nurse only
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3 in ICU depending on acuity
• When ICU census is low, may be assigned to assist on the Med-Surg unit with a limited assignment of approximately 1-2 Med-Surg patients
• Agency staff will not be assigned a full Med-Surg patient load except under extraordinary circumstances
• Weekend shifts required - 6 weekend shifts per schedule
• No on-call required
• No block scheduling required
• Will not float between units
• Must be comfortable working in a rural critical access hospital environment
• Care for patients ranging across age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Minimum 1 year of prior ICU experience required
• Epic EMR charting system experience required
• Required certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Must be competent in skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, heparin management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), insulin administration, peripheral line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility
• Navy blue dress code required for RNs

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with 49 total staffed beds. The facility operates a unified Charge Nurse model providing oversight for both Med-Surg and ICU units. Interdisciplinary support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, and pharmacy. The facility provides care for a wide range of patient diagnoses including congestive heart failure, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, gastrointestinal conditions, acute kidney injury, and more.
