Travel ICU RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200
• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Assignment Type: ICU travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 6, 2026
• Duration: 10 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Schedule: Four night shifts per week with every-other-weekend coverage
• Call: Not required
• Floating: ICU and PCU assignments, with additional critical-care coverage as needed
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Healthcare Setting: 32-bed Medical ICU within a Level I trauma setting
• Charting: Epic electronic health record

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent ICU Registered Nurse or Medical ICU nursing experience
• Active Connecticut Registered Nurse license or eligibility to obtain one before the assignment begins
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Recent experience using Epic electronic health records
• Strong critical-care nursing skills, including ventilator management, continuous IV sedation, titration of vasoactive drips, arterial line management, central-line care, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Proficiency with BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and respiratory-failure management
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply

Travel ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in a Medical ICU
• Assess patient conditions, recognize clinical deterioration, and initiate timely interventions
• Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage advanced respiratory support, including BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
• Monitor and titrate vasoactive medications and continuous IV sedation according to clinical protocols
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, CVP monitoring, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency medications
• Interpret ABGs and cardiac rhythms while responding appropriately to dysrhythmias and other critical changes
• Apply infection-prevention practices, isolation precautions, and safe patient-handling standards
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, IV services, radiology, physical therapy, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Float to ICU and PCU areas as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
