Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Every third weekend schedule required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Must be available to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless unit is closed
• 24 months of recent/current ICU experience required
• Travel experience within previous 24 months required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Comfortable caring for 2-5 patients depending on unit and overflow needs
• May float between ICU, stepdown, and Med Surg units
• ICU unit consists of 5 ICU beds and 3 stepdown beds with a 1:2 ratio, sometimes 1:3 depending on overflow
• ICU patient types include vent, BiPAP, airvo, bariatric surgery, and general surgery
• ICU drips include propofol, levophed, diltiazem, insulin, and heparin
• Med Surg unit consists of 23 beds with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Med Surg patient types include bariatric surgery, orthopedic, and general med surg
• Med Surg drips include heparin
• Telemetry reads and measures required
• Skills checklist specific to ICU/Intensive Care discipline required
• Iowa nursing license required - must be active or compact/multistate at time of submission
• All candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA/ARC), ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC)
• NIHSS certificate preferred - can be obtained during onboarding

This healthcare facility operates both an ICU and Med Surg unit, providing comprehensive inpatient care across multiple levels of acuity. The ICU is equipped to handle complex patient cases including ventilated patients and post-surgical care, while the Med Surg unit supports a diverse patient population including bariatric and orthopedic cases. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic medical records system and maintains high standards for patient care through specialized clinical teams.
