Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for an IMC/Stepdown position requiring active IL licensure and at least 1 year of telemetry/stepdown experience.

Details

  • Work in the IMC/Stepdown unit of a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • 562 staffed bed facility
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours (0645-1915)
  • Will work every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
  • Cerner charting system used

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required and in hand at time of application
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • Required experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Cardiovascular experience including post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band
  • Gastrointestinal experience with feeding tube care and management
  • Genitourinary/Renal experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
  • IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills including port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Medication management experience including heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, PCA, and procedural sedation administration
  • Neurological/Psychiatric case experience including craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Orthopedic case experience including ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
  • Plastic surgery case experience including skin grafts and surgical drains
  • Respiratory skills including care of ventilated patients, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
  • Experience with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for a complex telemetry/stepdown patient population including cardiac, neuro, ortho, renal, and respiratory cases
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • Ideally no more than 5 days of non-holiday requested time off
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Scrubs may be any solid color
  • Parking permit required with no associated cost
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
