Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring an active IL license and at least 1 year of telemetry/stepdown nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/IMC/Stepdown unit of a 562-bed acute care hospital
  • Care for telemetry, neuro stepdown, and cardiovascular patient populations, including post cardiac cath, post MI, and neurosurgical cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Day shift schedule (0645-1915), 3x12 hours with potential to accommodate 4x12 schedules
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown setting
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Cardiovascular skills required, including post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery, sheath removal, and TR band management
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required, including central line, PICC line, peripheral line, and port access/management
  • Respiratory care skills required, including ventilator management, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration and non-titration) and administering procedural sedation
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • Manage a broad range of specialty cases including orthopedic, neurological, gastrointestinal, and renal patients
  • Scrub color requirement is any solid color
  • Parking permit provided at no cost, arranged during orientation
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees of the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a travelers
  • Requested time off should ideally not exceed 5 days
  • Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
