Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit position requiring telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills, with travel experience required and an active IL license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in the IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit
• 4x12 Day shift schedule (0645-1915)
• Will work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Required experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management, on-unit telemetry monitoring, and use of Rapid Response Teams
• Cardiovascular experience including post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery, sheath removal, and TR band
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including port access, arterial and central line management, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting IVs
• Medication management experience including heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management/titration, PCA, and procedural sedation administration
• Respiratory care skills including ventilator management, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
• Neurological/psychiatric case experience including craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Orthopedic case experience including ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
• Plastic surgery case experience including skin grafts and surgical drains
• Genitourinary/renal experience including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
• Scrubs may be any solid color
• Floating is required of all travelers within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO requests ideally no more than 5 non-holiday days
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Parking permit required at no cost, completed during orientation
