Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a hospital-based Infusion Center position requiring outpatient oncology experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

  • Hospital-based Infusion Center serving outpatient oncology patients
  • Patient population includes solid tumor cancers, lymphomas, chronic leukemia, iron deficiency anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, and neuro-oncology cases
  • Performs specialized procedures including bone marrow aspirations, intravesicular chemotherapy for bladder cancer, and intrathecal chemotherapy
  • Utilizes specialized equipment including Cyracom interpreter machine, blood warmer, Hoyer lift, vein finder, and ultrasound-guided IV machine
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Day shift schedule with variable start times (8:30a-5p, 9a-5:30p, or 9:30a-6p), 5x8 hour shifts
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • May be required to float to any campus within the health system as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification required
  • ACLS and OCN certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Previous infusion center and outpatient oncology experience required
  • Previous Charge RN experience preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG competency exam with up to two attempts allowed during compliance
  • Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line and PICC line care, and administration of blood products and coagulation factors
  • Experienced in chemotherapy administration, oncologic emergency management, and recognition of treatment side effects
  • Knowledgeable in care of patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies
  • Skilled in psychosocial care, symptom management, and patient/family education
  • Valid driver's license required for address verification

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a hospital-based outpatient oncology infusion setting
  • Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and supportive infusion therapies while monitoring for treatment-related complications
  • Coordinate care across a multidisciplinary oncology team
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management, and side effects
  • Facility maintains a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
  • Local candidates within the 50-mile radius are not accepted
  • No first-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Travel experience is required
  • RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application; no post-submission RTO will be accepted
