Interventional Radiology Tech - Day Shift - 10 x 4

Job Description

Independently performs imaging procedures, utilizing prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This role requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative while exhibiting technical competence in a variety of procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures.
  • Exhibit a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations, and patient monitoring systems.
  • Support other departments by performing general radiographic procedures as needed.
  • Foster an environment that supports aseptic techniques during procedures and ensures patient safety using a time-out process.
  • Administer contrast in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
  • Show a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Communicate instructions to patients clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to alleviate fears and solicit cooperation.
  • Properly identify all patients using two patient identifiers and apply universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
  • Document patient history in the electronic record as required and ensure proper coding and tracking of exams.
  • Network all exams for archiving and interpretation and adequately enter all charges for exams performed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience.
  • Current ARRT Certificate or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Compliance with PA Act 31, 33, 34, and 73.

Schedule

This position operates on a day shift schedule of 10 hours per day, 4 days a week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
