Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and active NRP certification for a 13-week night shift contract in Nebraska.

Details

  • LDRP unit within an acute care hospital setting
  • 15 LDRP beds serving obstetric, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, and pregnancy with HTN or diabetes patients
  • Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:3 standard, 1:1 for actively laboring patients
  • Facility performs approximately 400 births per year
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, Mag, and Procardia
  • Charge nurse is present on each shift and carries an assignment
  • Floating is extremely rare and limited to sitting or task duties only during critical staffing situations
  • 12-hour night shifts (6p–7a)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • No on-call or standby requirement
  • Epic EMR used in this position

Requirements

  • Active NE RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required — pending licenses will not be accepted
  • Active certifications required: BLS and NRP — pending certifications will not be accepted
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify candidate resides at least 50 miles from the facility
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year — candidates placed PRN through outside firms will be considered

Additional Information

  • Orientation consists of 1 week of classroom training followed by 2–3 shifts of floor orientation
  • A pass/fail open-book exam on unit skills is administered during orientation — a score of 90% or higher is required to pass
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
  • The unit holds Blue Distinction+ recognition for patient care and maintains high patient experience scores; breastfeeding-friendly environment
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — driver's license is used to verify permanent address
  • RTO requests (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after that point
  • BSN is not required for this position
