Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in a hospital Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
  • Facility manages approximately 200-300 births per month in a teaching hospital setting
  • Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, high-risk antepartum, and low-risk antepartum/LD cases
  • Duties include circulating, OB-GYN, pre-op/post-op, scrub, couplet care, and transition nursery support
  • Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3
  • Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
  • Utilizes specialized equipment including epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vac, and cooling/warming blankets
  • Administers blood/blood products, Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Float required to Post-Partum and NICU based on skill set
  • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line maintenance, anticoagulation therapy, insulin drips, and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement/calibration, and obstetrical triage required
  • Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and C-section recovery required
  • Experience with epidural anesthesia and pain management required
  • 2 supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
  • Perform sterile vaginal exams, wound assessment/care, and maintain isolation precautions/PPE protocols
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to local rate rules
  • Former Providence permanent employees may be eligible to return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process; minimal RTO is preferred to avoid delays
  • All required certifications must be current and in hand at the time of consideration
