Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring L&D, postpartum, and circulating experience with a compact or ID RN license.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting within the Women's Services unit
  • Unit includes 10 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, 10 postpartum beds, and 2 ORs for C-sections
  • Approximately 120 births per month on average
  • Cares for laboring patients 32 weeks and greater, elective and medical inductions, stable antepartum patients, postpartum patients, and well newborns
  • Follows AWHONN ratio guidelines, primarily 1:1 in L&D and 1:6 couple care in postpartum
  • L&D RNs circulate for C-section cases in the OR
  • Titrates drips per protocol, primarily Pitocin and magnesium, rarely insulin
  • Uses EPIC EMR and GE Connect EFM system
  • Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts
  • Weekend and holiday requirements based on unit needs
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Required to float to like units within the valley (Nampa L&D and Boise L&D), all within approximately 20 minutes, and may also float as a sitter to Med-Surg or ED
  • Traveler is first to float
  • No more than five consecutive shifts per hospital policy

Requirements

  • Active RN license, ID or compact, required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
  • STABLE certification required (taken at least once)
  • L&D, postpartum, and circulating experience required
  • Triage experience strongly preferred
  • BSN not required
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

  • Charge RN, Resource RN, and House Supervisor present on every shift, with Charge and Resource RNs not carrying patient assignments
  • CNA support for the floor (L&D/PP/NICU) 4-5 days and nights per week, with unit clerk coverage 24/7
  • OB hospitalist in house 24/7, midwives always on call
  • Neonatal NP in house 24/7 and neonatologist on call available within 15 minutes
  • CRNA anesthesia coverage in house 24/7
  • Blue scrubs provided on the unit
  • Unit-specific orientation typically 4-6 shifts, customized per traveler
  • No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius; local candidates not accepted
  • Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
  • Client may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
