Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring CA RN license and at least 1 year of L&D experience.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit caring for a high-risk OB, culturally diverse patient population
• 11-15 beds/rooms with an average daily census of 15-20
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:00-6:00)
• Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
• Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers prioritized to float within their scope
• RNs circulate on cesarean sections
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, and venous blood draws required
• Experience with labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and sterile vaginal exams
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external fetal heart monitoring, recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and IUPC placement/calibration
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, and antiseizure medications
• Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care and foley catheter management
• Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, cord care, and discharge teaching
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care within a high-risk OB setting
• Expected to float between sister facilities as needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius for local rate consideration
• Former facility employees may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live more than 50 miles from the facility
