Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring high-risk L&D experience, circulating skills, and newborn care expertise.

Details

  • Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 31 beds/rooms
  • Unit averages 15 patients daily with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
  • 4 operating rooms available for cesarean deliveries
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and may float to sister facilities with Mother/Baby units
  • Patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Electronic fetal monitoring used

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: BLS and NRP
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • Minimum 3 years of experience required in a high acuity, high pace L&D environment
  • 5 years of high-risk experience preferred, though 3+ years of high-risk experience will be considered
  • Must have skills to circulate for C-sections and provide newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
  • Must be able to function in the Baby Nurse role during delivery and provide continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Experience with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery assistance, hemorrhage/shock management, and forceps/vacuum extraction required
  • Experience with medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including circulating for C-sections and assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
  • Serve as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing newborn assessments, eye care, and thigh injections
  • Support postpartum patients with conditions such as hemorrhage, cesarean recovery, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Provide breastfeeding and lactation support along with wound and perineal care
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • Time off requests must be submitted upfront and are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel candidate
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Local candidates accepted
