Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 3-5 years of high-risk, high-acuity L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, and Adult Recovery Services patients supporting substance recovery, as well as community care clinic patients
  • Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient ratio of 1:1-2
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float required to sister facilities for Post Partum/Antepartum and Mother/Baby coverage
  • Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
  • Current certifications required: BLS and NRP
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required in a high-acuity, high-pace L&D environment
  • High-risk L&D experience required
  • Required Epic EMR charting experience
  • Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Must be able to circulate for deliveries and provide newborn care including eye and Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
  • Experience with medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate required
  • Current proof of Nursys required
  • Must pass clinical review
  • Current supervisory references required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages including high-risk deliveries
  • Perform newborn care immediately following delivery including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and thermoregulation
  • Support high-risk antepartum patients and manage complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including circulating for C-sections and recovery care
  • Provide pain management support including epidural, general anesthesia, and medication administration
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate, or reside locally to be considered under the local rule
  • Former permanent staff of this facility may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
  • Permanent staff from other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible for a travel contract after being separated for at least 3 months
  • All Swedish facilities honor active compact licenses
  • Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the system
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • RTO requests should be submitted upfront, as requests made after submission or offer may not be accommodated
