Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Dickinson, North Dakota. This position involves providing care in a rural hospital setting, supporting labor and postpartum patients in a unit with four labor beds and seven postpartum beds. The role requires clinical independence, team collaboration, and strong communication skills to ensure quality patient care in a limited service environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week, including every third weekend and holidays as needed.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification, and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in rural hospital settings and independently managing neonatal ventilator equipment such as CPAP, Bipap, and high-flow systems.
- Float: Floating to MSP/ED for helping hands, mainly sitting 1:1 with patients.
- Additional Information:
- Department notes: Certified RNs are required to pass specific fit testing with facial hair considerations; contract cancellations may occur if facial hair cannot be removed.
- The unit follows AWHONN guidelines with patient ratios of 1:1-2 during labor and 1:2-3 postpartum.
- Common diagnoses include pregnancies over 35 weeks, and typical patient treatments involve magnesium, oxytocin, prenatal vitamins, and pain management medications.
- The hospital is located more than one hour from the NICU, with limited services available.
- RTO (Request for Time Off) must be submitted upfront for up to 7 days within a 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
- Candidates must not be affiliated full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization.
