Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Department position located in Santa Maria, California. This role involves providing care for antepartum, high-risk deliveries, and patients at various gestational ages. The role requires circulating for cesarean sections, with floating to postpartum as needed, and ensuring high standards of patient care in a busy obstetric setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM; every other week end shift.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program). Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience, relevant licensure, and the ability to submit licensing documentation.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with circulating for cesarean sections and scrubbing skills are preferred.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required, including to postpartum units; floor-specific orientation provided.
  • Additional Information: Candidates will work in a high-acuity, acute care setting serving patients with various obstetric needs, including high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, substance abuse, and insulin-dependent diabetics. The unit maintains specific scrub colors for staff and follows AWOHNN (American Womens Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) guidelines for labor ratios, with a 2 to 1 ratio during labor and 1 to 4 in couplet care. Staff must be able to circulate for cesarean sections and document care using Cerner EMR system.
