Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certification, and a compact or NC RN license.
Details
- 23-bed Medical/Telemetry unit within a Trauma Level III, teaching hospital
- Average daily census of 21 patients
- Patient population includes chest pain, rule-out stroke, syncope, dizziness, respiratory illness, and other diagnoses
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5
- CNA support ratio of 1:7 days and 1:10 nights
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation of every other weekend
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) based on staffing needs and within scope of practice
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)
- Experience managing PCA pumps and medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to Medical/Telemetry patients including medication administration, drain and tube management, and cardiac monitoring
- Supported by a Charge RN, Supervisor, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage, and a dedicated IV/VAT team
- Phlebotomy is a shared responsibility between RNs and the IV team
- Travel nurses are prioritized for floating to other units, providing flexible staffing support based on patient care needs
- If floating mid-shift between facilities, travelers remain on the clock for travel time
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Navy scrub color required
- Free employee parking available
- Team culture includes unit activities such as a book club and Netflix watching club
- First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Returning employees must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
