Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12hr Night Shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possible low census call back, up to 0300 for nights and 1500 for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Unit supported by CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring/tech support available
• Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, automated med dispensing, and cardiac monitors
• Unit utilizes Virtual Nursing Observation (VNO) technology with 10 cameras for second RN witness, monitoring, and admission/discharge support

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Core Med/Tele skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a patient-centered, collaborative team culture
• Travelers will work 75% of scheduled holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least one year following a permanent position
• Navy scrub color required
