Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position at a Level 3 Trauma hospital requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience.

Details

• 24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with an average daily census of 24
• Fast-paced observation unit treating cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and various other diagnoses
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (up to 1:7-8 during surge staffing)
• CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Low census call possible, with callback up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• EPIC EMR used, minimum 6 months experience required
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
• Supported by CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and 24/7 intensivist
• Remote telemetry monitoring supported by tele techs

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Minimum 6 months EPIC EMR experience required
• Core Med/Tele skills required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), tube/drain care, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and wound care for a diverse Med/Surg Tele population
• Facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center with 241 licensed beds
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers expected to work 75% of designated holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Schedule follows a 6-week cycle
• Navy scrubs required
