Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a fast-paced ED border unit, requiring 2 years of experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift position, 3x12 hours (19:30-08:00)
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
• Functions as an ED border unit caring for MS/T, IMC, and ED overflow patients
• Average daily census of 10 to 40 border patients across 46 rooms
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Wide variety of patient diagnoses including complex ED admission cases in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Floating required between ED borders and extenders to MS/T and IMC units within specialty and scope
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Royal blue scrub color required

Requirements

• Active RN license, MD state or Compact, required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only) required
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version currently accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Prior travel RN experience required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management skills required
• Experience using rapid response/code teams

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to a mix of ED, MS/Tele, and IMC border patients within scope of practice
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments with no restrictions
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified as a local-accepted role
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the health system since their last assignment
• Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Contract extensions are generally limited to one renewal, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the same facility or unit
• Maximum RTO request is 7 days, with additional week added to new contracts if more than 4 consecutive days are requested
• One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed depending on unit needs
