We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Med Surg and Telemetry to join our team in Baltimore, MD. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, providing essential care to patients with neurologic diagnoses.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience, with a strong background in neurology. This position requires the ability to float between units based on hospital needs, specifically to Med-Surg and Med-Surg/Telemetry units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a 36-bed Neuro Med-Surg/Telemetry unit.
• Monitor patients with neurologic diagnoses and telemetry overflow.
• Utilize continuous bedside EEG monitoring, telemetry, and bladder scanning.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements:

• Active Maryland or compact RN license required upon submission.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications are required.
• Basic EKG testing through Prophecy Relias is required and must be provided by the agency.
• 8 hours of annual stroke continuing education (CE) required.
• 4 hours of annual trauma-related CE required.
• TCRN certification is preferred.
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke care and pre/post-neurosurgery is required.
• Experience with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury is required.
• Feeding-tube care, pre/post-hemodialysis care, and renal-failure experience are required.
• Experience with surgical drains, wound care/wound VAC, oxygen administration, and isolation/PPE is required.

Weekend and holiday work is required, with every other weekend and holiday mandated. The system will auto-approve 14 days or less of requested time off (RTO), but no RTO is approved on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and during winter and summer holidays.

The unit is a Certified Stroke Center and Level IV Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, focusing on patients with common diagnoses such as CVA, ischemic stroke, epilepsy, seizures, and more. The charting system used is Cerner, and the scrub color is navy blue.
