Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN for a Level 1 trauma hospital, requiring 2 years of MS-Tele experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• MS-Tele Float Pool position within an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
• Floats across multiple units including General MS-Tele, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses spanning post-surgical, general medicine, psych/detox, ENT, and long-term placement cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity
• May float to other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
• May be required to work during holiday rotation
• Rare call/standby requirement for low census situations
• Schedule created by leadership in 6-week blocks; flexibility expected to fill scheduling gaps
• Uses Epic EMR
• RNs titrate Heparin drips
• Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment
• Nursing aide support available on the unit
• Respiratory therapy equipment in use, including vents, CPAP, and BiPap
• Any scrub color permitted

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience required
• Neuro experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Week of orientation requires clinicians to be in-state, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
