Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU night shift position requiring MA RN licensure and ICU-specific clinical skills.

Details

  • Work in the Medical ICU of a hospital setting
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • Contract lengths of 13, 20, or 26 weeks available
  • Every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating to other adult ICUs required as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR, experience preferred
  • Scheduling is based on unit needs with no block schedules or special accommodations
  • Union facility requiring availability to work all 7 days of the week

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required (conditional license accepted while pursuing full licensure)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • 2 years of ICU experience highly preferred, though candidates with less experience will be considered
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
  • Experience managing continuous IV sedation, paralytics, vasoactive and cardiac drips
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun and epicardial pacing wire care
  • Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and massive transfusion protocol
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive ICU-level care to medically complex patients including those with multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Must complete a pass/fail EKG test and medication exam during orientation, with only one attempt allowed to pass
  • Pre-start and orientation modules required, with additional annual modules
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius; RNs may also be considered within a 200-mile radius
  • Minimal RTO preferred, with a desired length of 3-5 days and no RTO allowed in the first week
