Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Observation/Med-Surg Unit position requiring telemetry experience and a compact or OK RN license.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed observation and medical-surgical unit with telemetry capability at a Level I trauma center
• Care for a diverse patient population of all ages
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Unit supported by PCTs, a healthcare unit coordinator, virtual sitter monitoring, and monitor techs for telemetry patients
• Night shift schedule from 18:30 to 07:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Required to work up to six weekend shifts and holidays as needed based on department needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS certification through AHA
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise critical thinking and decisive judgment in a stressful environment

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
• Implement and monitor patient care plans, and record and communicate patient condition
• Serve as a primary coordinator across disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
• Carry out physician and nursing orders
• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team
• Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• Work collaboratively within nursing teams supported by PCTs and a unit secretary
• Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
