Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Telemetry unit position requiring a WV or compact RN license and 2+ years of experience.

Details

• 34-bed medical surgical unit with telemetry capabilities
• Patient ratios of 1:5-7
• Night shift schedule of 4x12 or 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
• Schedule includes weekdays and weekends, 3 shifts per 4-week period
• Uses Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS (if required) must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Cerner charting experience required
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and oxygen administration
• Skills in IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry remote monitoring
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Experience with surgical drain management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy medical surgical telemetry unit
• Facility maintains a strict attendance policy, tolerating only 2-3 call-offs per contract
• Orientation held every other Monday with non-billable Cerner modules averaging 8 hours to complete prior to start date
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility for consideration; those between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current Vandalia Health System employees (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply as travel experience is not required
• Previous probationary actions on a license will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
