Job Summary:
A Medical Surgical with Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a rural hospital setting located in LUFKIN, Texas. This role involves providing patient care on a med/surg telemetry unit with a focus on managing common diagnoses such as CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, chronic kidney disease, and musculoskeletal conditions. The RN will work 12-hour day shifts, contributing to a dedicated team serving the community's healthcare needs in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Texas RN license; BLS (AHA) certification; 6+ years of nursing experience with a minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience; excellent communication and time management skills; rural hospital experience preferred.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit manages 25 beds with patient ratios of 5-6:1.
  • Common patients include those with CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Titration of drips is limited to Heparin.
  • The unit utilizes Cpap, Bipap, and high-flow equipment.
  • Tele/Monitor techs monitor patients, but RNs must be able to read strips.
  • Charge nurses and house supervisors are available on-site.
  • PCTs are present, with a 12:1 PCT-to-patient ratio.
  • The unit uses the Paragon charting system, transitioning to EPIC by October 30, 2026.
  • Orientation includes initial shadow shifts.
  • Floating to all med/surg units, possibly to PCU, is required.
  • No block scheduling; assigned based on facility needs.
  • Weekend and holiday requirements apply.
  • Scrub color: navy blue.
