Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical ICU position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and prior ICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a high acuity, fast-paced Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
  • Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, post-cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, CVA post tPA, COVID, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
  • Standard patient ratio is 2:1, which may increase to 4:1 when boarders are present
  • 1 CNA per shift available for support
  • Frequently performed procedures include bedside central and arterial line placement, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and code blue response
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Weekend rotation required
  • Floating required, including potential float to telemetry units or sister facilities based on census needs
  • Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • 2 hours of stroke-specific education required annually
  • Minimum 1 year of MICU/ICU experience required
  • Level II Trauma Center experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol required
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols
  • Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring and sheath removal experience preferred
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to a high acuity MICU patient population
  • Scrubs of any color permitted except reddish-orange
  • Parking is facility paid
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of ICU experience
  • Local candidates not accepted
  • Radius rule of 50 miles applies
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility, including permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem roles
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of consideration, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
