American Consultants is seeking a travel nurse RN MICU - Medical Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Anchorage, Alaska.

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical ICU – Anchorage, AK 99508

Start Date: August 31, 2026

Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30). Weekend coverage required as needed. Patient ratio of 2:1 across all shifts. 13-week assignment with 12-hour orientation.

  • 407-bed acute care hospital with 28-room, 27-bed Medical ICU unit serving a daily census of 21 patients
  • Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and lift teams
  • Care for diverse patient populations including medical/surgical cardiac, open heart recovery, neuro intervention, stroke, sepsis, respiratory failure, trauma, and spinal cord injury
  • Free parking provided; scrubs supplied by the facility
  • Exposure to advanced equipment including IABP, CRRT, Impella, tandem heart, and targeted temperature management

Requirements:

  • Active Alaska RN license required (pending licenses accepted for submission, but license must be in hand for offer)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required; previous travel experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination required (titers or declination not accepted)
  • Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
  • Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
  • Ability to float to similar units within the hospital or affiliate locations as needed
