Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele Float RN with at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience for a night shift position requiring floating across multiple medical units.

Details

• Float pool position within the MS/Tele service line of a short-term acute care hospital
• Floats to Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Neuro, and Cardiology units as needed
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on days/weekends and 1:6 on nights
• Every other weekend required, or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation obligation
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Uses lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanners (training provided for lift devices)

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (must match permanent residence)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; IV start and Telemetry certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg-Tele experience required
• EPIC charting experience strongly preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with PCA medications and surgical drain management preferred
• Experience with total joint replacement patients preferred
• Must be able to accommodate facial hair requirements for fit testing (clean-shaven if necessary)

• Provide nursing care across multiple medical specialty units as part of a float pool team
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Free parking available on site
• Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first week of assignment
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Does not accept local candidates within a 75-mile radius
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers must reside outside a 75-mile radius and may work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service
