Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele Float RN for a night shift role requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and a current MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Float position within the Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit at a short-term acute care hospital
• Floats within scope to all medical units, renal, oncology, neuro, and cardiology as needed
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 7:15
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on days and weekends, 1:6 on nights
• Required to work every other weekend or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Workers assigned to float pool call in up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (no compact license tied to another compact state)
• Minimum of 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• IV start and telemetry certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Prior EPIC charting experience strongly preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and phlebotomy
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team participation
• Experience with respiratory care including HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Able to use lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanners (training provided)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, and cardiology units as part of a float pool team
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to this facility system as a traveler
• Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
