Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring WA or compact RN licensure and ACLS/BLS certification for a 13-week night shift assignment.

Details

• MS/Tele Float unit within an acute care hospital setting with 32 beds
• Floats between all Med Surg, PCU, ED boarding, and temporary bed location units
• Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, ETOH withdrawal, kidney issues, dementia, and CVA
• Patient ratios of 5:1, with potential to increase to 6:1 during inpatient boarding
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730)
• Every other weekend requirement and holiday coverage required
• Uses Epic EMR with facility-provided training
• Charge nurse support available on shift
• Nurse aide support of approximately 4-5 per shift
• Telemetry monitoring with nurses responsible for reviewing strips
• Administers drips including Heparin, Cardizem, insulin (not DKA protocol), and narcotics for comfort
• No ventilator management required on this unit
• In-house hospitalist or intensivist coverage available
• Cross-shift IV/SWAT team support available
• 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support
• Close observation provided through camera monitoring
• Varied floor-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or Compact license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred but not required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Acute care Med/Surg or Telemetry experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across Med/Surg and Telemetry patient populations as part of a float pool team
• Review and monitor telemetry strips as part of daily responsibilities
• Scrub color is professional colors, patterns, and styles with no specific color requirement
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Candidates previously employed directly (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; those employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
