Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring SC or compact RN license and at least 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience.

Details

• MS/Tele unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Newly built unit currently staffed with 10 open beds, 2 RNs and 1 tech per shift
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Uses bedside monitors capable of telemetry, blood pressure, and pulse ox monitoring
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:45am to 7:15pm
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• 24/7 house supervisor coverage available
• Charge responsibilities split between stepdown and 3 West
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• (SC) or compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a newly developed Med/Surg Tele unit
• Manage cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Perform oxygen administration, nasal cannula use, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols as needed
• Care for patients with renal failure and other genitourinary/renal conditions
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted, though non-local candidates are prioritized
• Radius rule of 60 miles applies for local candidate consideration
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Block scheduling requests may be considered but are not guaranteed
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of consideration for review
• Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks based on census needs
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response duties
