Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients on a 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit
• Monitor and manage telemetry patients (unit capacity for up to 8 telemetry patients)
• Care for Level III trauma patients and Medical-Surgical overflow as census permits
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:7 and adapt to unit needs including floating as required
• Work every other weekend and required holidays, including two of the three winter holidays during the contract period
• Complete required pre-start compliance modules (approximately 3 hours, completed prior to start date)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of recent, relevant Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required — no exceptions
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• ACLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• Must pass a telemetry/EKG competency test with a score of 80% or higher (one attempt; no remediation available); test covers rhythm identification, interval measurements, sinus rhythms, heart blocks, lethal rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, and pacing
• Must be able to pass standard fit testing; facility cannot accommodate a PAPR — no exceptions
• No prior license or background hits will be considered — no exceptions
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in post-operative orthopedic, bariatric, or colorectal surgical nursing
• Familiarity with Level III trauma patient care
• Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
