Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a hospital MS/Tele unit as part of a float pool
  • Care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Availability required for weekdays and some weekends, including holidays
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum of 2 years of MS/Tele experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and telemetry monitoring
  • Skilled in central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
  • Experience with blood product administration
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Experience with rapid response/code team activation
  • Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills required with excellent attention to detail
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract, as delays can impact start date
  • Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • Holiday coverage required as part of scheduling expectations
